CARE + Cloud for Good: A Trusted Long-Term Partnership in Technology Transformation

CARE (Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere) is a major international humanitarian agency that delivers emergency relief and long-term international development projects. Founded in 1945, CARE is nonsectarian, impartial, and non-governmental. It is one of the largest and oldest humanitarian aid organizations focused on saving lives, defeating poverty, achieving social justice, and fighting for women and girls. CARE currently works in 121 countries, supporting 1,400+ poverty-fighting development and humanitarian aid projects that reached 53 million people in 2024.
Cloud for Good has been privileged to build a strong longstanding relationship with CARE and be CARE’s trusted partner on technology needs, support its long-term success with Salesforce, data analytics, direct response, and drive CARE’s CRM transformation goals across the organization.

How it Started

A Need for Implementation Partner

Cloud for Good’s demonstrated expertise, project methodology, and prior success in completing fundraising projects on Salesforce led CARE to choose them as its implementation partner for a migration from a legacy Salesforce instance of NGOC to Salesforce NPSP. This implementation eventually created additional opportunities for CARE and Cloud for Good to extend their partnership and collaborate on projects that included:

  • Building and implementing a Snowflake data warehouse to replace an AWS legacy data warehouse supporting CARE’s robust campaign program
  • Ongoing support from Cloud for Good’s direct response services
  • A Run engagement of Cloud for Good’s Managed Services that transitioned into a full Managed Services engagement to supplement CARE’s Direct Response support

“Recognizing the pivotal role of Cloud for Good as a continued partner, CARE leveraged their expertise to enhance Salesforce configuration, optimize business processes, and meet critical fundraising data needs. This collaboration ensures value from our investments and helped CARE to analyze donation patterns, improve business efficiency, and achieve fundraising objectives,” said Jerry Tuan, Chief Information Officer at CARE.

Highlights of the Partnership

Enhanced Fundraising and Donor Relations Efforts

Salesforce is integral to CARE’s fundraising and donor management and relations efforts; with Cloud for Good’s Managed Services and Direct Response services, CARE is now able to enhance and target its outreach and donor relations efforts. This allows CARE to fundraise more effectively, understand and engage with its donors and supporters better, send personalized and targeted fundraising appeals that drive fundraising revenue, and make informed decisions.

One notable solution Cloud for Good deployed that has enhanced the CARE team’s visibility into its data was implementing Salesforce Connect and a Jitterbit ETL between CARE’s Snowflake data warehouse and Salesforce platform. Through this integration, CARE staff can view archived data that lives in their data warehouse within Salesforce. One other huge benefit of this integration is that the archived data is presented in Salesforce without leaving Snowflake or taking up any of their Salesforce CRM’s storage capacity.

Technical Expertise and Support

CARE’s ongoing partnership with Cloud for Good gives the organization access to a partner who is deeply familiar with CARE’s Salesforce and Snowflake ecosystems, data architecture, and technical stack. Having that access means CARE has a trusted resource that ensures its system is functioning correctly and providing the organization with the tools it needs to achieve its goals, can recommend or implement enhancements to the system, and can be mobilized quickly to resolve unforeseen technical issues within the system that may impact stakeholders and external functions.

For example, CARE’s mass and mid-market fundraising team wanted a way to easily identify and track the history of a donor’s giving level in Salesforce. Based on criteria defined by CARE, Cloud for Good created a nightly process in Snowflake to assign and update donor segments (with start and end dates) for over 2 million constituents and sync records back to Salesforce. Campaign solicitations, acknowledgments, and donor reports now use these donor segments to help define strategies for moving a constituent through the donor lifecycle.

Annual Strategic Technology Planning

Cloud for Good’s managed services team, account team, and direct response team are actively engaged in strategic planning conversations with CARE’s team.

“We regularly review where CARE is with its organization’s strategic goals,” shared Christine Pallen, Managing Director – Nonprofit Industry at Cloud for Good. “Our teams are in sync and together we make continual systematic improvements to support CARE’s efficiency and ability to achieve fundraising goals.”

“We see our annual strategic CRM planning as a part of our partnership and shared goal of driving positive outcomes in the communities that CARE is serving all over the world,” said Jerry. “As a joint team, we ensure that CARE’s CRM technology is aligned with its strategic priorities that can generate more fundraising opportunities, reduce expenses, and increase productivity.”
